Reputable european registrar

With a functional web site. Any hints where I can find?

I tried the icann web site, but the french and german sites I visit either don't have english versions or else the web site doesn't have a BUY button, or any way I can actually purchase something.

Any hints of where I can find a good list of domain name registrars for Germany and France?

If you have the name of a particular company, then by all means sticky me!

One thing to keep in mind here is not all ccTLDs are available to anyone. There are specific regulations with all of them.
For German domains you have to be located in Germany. That said it's no problem to arrange things.
There are even registrars offering a trustee deal for non Germans.

EasySpace is serving some country codes, but not from france or germany.

BTW, their web site update makes a world of difference. They look so much more professional than the old web site.

It's astounding how many of these European web sites make it difficult to buy from.

One of the most prominent buttons on an ecommerce site should be the one that reads, "Click here to send us your money!"

I am trying to buy a couple of .fr, .nl and .de's for someone too. They have business's over there but it does seem very diificult to find an English web site that will sell them.
Anyone an suggestions? It must be done 1000's of times, but does not seem easy. Did you have any luck martinibuster?

I'm not wild about easyspace. I have a european client who has purchased his own domain name and web hosting. Easy space is much more difficult than the ones I use here in the US. Easyspace includes a ton of garbage at the top of your web pages, which will kill you on SEO. You can pay an extra $36/year to remove the banner, but that's almost as much as I pay for a year's worth of web hosting here. Right now, I'm trying to set up the DNS on an easyspace domain to point to a new web host I just set up, and it's not obvious to me where to change the DNS. W/ the domain registrar I use here in the US, it's an easy-peasy menu option.

Speednames[.com] is certainly reputable, and they sell just about every tld there is, but they are quite expensive.

I came to Webmaster World to post a question about registering .de names to find a brilliant answer. I had found simply (.com) but they wanted extra to act as admin contact (which is all you need to be based in Germany). Next question, as I understand local hosting/IP address makes a difference to the googlebot is any recommendations for a German hosting company for 10 domain names?

Okay, I have left this thread open to some sharing of workable routes for our members to register ccTLDs acroos Europe.
That is a market where only a few companies play.

What we do not want to do here is naming Hosting companies for each country.

If you know of a good company offering reliable and affordable registering of a variety of Euro ccTLDs to people from everywhere - than this is the thread.

Speednames is reliable and enables you to register more than 115 TLD's and ccTLD's (all EU contries are covered). Further more they provide easy online management of all your domains.

They also provide legal services in domain disputes.

It's not cheap but you get what you pay for

I use Gandi.net and never had problems with them. They are French. They are a registrar, I don't know if they do hosting.

estjohn, we are looking for registrars who can help people registering european ccTLDs, like, .fr, .de, .nl etc. The registrars we are looking for must have a method of enabling someone for example from the US to register domain names under those ccTLDs.

With Gandi you can't register anything but gTLDs, com, biz, net, org etc.

the biggest - and afaik the cheapest registrars/hosting services in europe (the world?) are strato and einsundeins in germany.

you can check them up in domainreport as well.

they offer several cc and top level domains,
all the standard packages, extensions -
but the website is only in german. :(

as for the payment you need to figure out how to transfer
money with a swift code system - because cc cards arent really
common in europe yet ...
as for the european admin contact - there are ways/services around it ...

probe, Strato doesn't offer any ccTLD apart from .de.

Einsundeins has .be, .at, .ch (Belgium, Switzerland, Austria). Nothing said about helping to do the formal requirements either?

Neither of those seem to target anybody else than german customers.

Just imagine the following situation: You are located in US or UK and looking to go for localized versions of a site. Where are you going to register all your local domains?

My recommendation:

We recently registered three non-German domains with them and they were swift and reliable.
They are registrar of several European TLDs (quite impressive).

.ch and .at Domains can be easily registered directly at the official NIC-Sites (that is, if you bring your own namesevers of course ;))

The DENIC changed their policy regarding Non-German residents some time ago.
United Domains offers a "Trustee Service" for Non-German residents.

The French NIC is quite restrictive about the available domain names (only company names or trademarks are available).
