The US administration seeks extension of moratorium on internet taxation:

I wonder what this will do to the 'voluntary' sales tax schemes some states have enacted?

Of course the moratorium extension requires an act of congress, so we may never see it!

Hm, if the president is backing such a thing - that may give it a better shot at going through.

However, I am not in agreement with all the ideas I've heard him tossing around.

With the economy the way it is currently in the states, I see any possible extension of the moratorium a very good thing.

How would it gel with the voluntary state programs to collect the taxes? Dunno. Will be interesting to see what happens with this, though.

With the way state budgets look right now, I see very few members of congress thinking that an extention would be a good thing. They may squeak it through like they did this tax cut, by arguing that it is necessary to bolster the econemy, but it took alot for them to swallow it about the tax cut and I doubt that there is anyone who wants to fight that hard for that argument when it comes to the internet.
