I recently purchased a second domain name (one matching my business name) . Ive set it up to 301 redirect to my main URL/website.(Main site URL is more keyword, Geo based.)
2 Questions:

- If its a new domain with a redirect, do i need to worry about creating any backlinks for it? being a 301, seems like it wont really exist except to point to the main one.
- will i gain any SEO benefits from the second URL name ( first website is more keyword based, which i realise isnt really helping, but not a huge problem any longer). By benefits, i mean keywords from my business name in the second URL?

With all the work ive put into the main site with on page and off page seo, and getting it to some good ranking for certain keywords, i dont want to move URL's with the site for major ranking drops.

Thanks

i would look at this more from the perspective of how the new domain fits into your long-term branding efforts and work towards the resulting set of requirements.

Can I make a redirect in the registrar's admin panel without using hosting?

Can I make a redirect in the registrar's admin panel without using hosting?

you can only redirect by responding to a request from a web server.
if your registrar is offering a "redirect service", they are necessarily hosting your web site.
in addition, it is highly likely that this service consists of redirecting all requests to the home page of another site, which is not a recommended practice.
