We have a successful .COM domain and are keeping regional domains, such as .DE to protect the brand and trademark.

For years we are keeping .info .net .biz and .org

Would you let go the .biz and .info to safe some extra $?

(I think we should need .org and .net)

I would not give those up now you have them. You'd be saving such a small sum it's not worth it, especially as someone could do no good on them.

Hello-

You mention "trademark", so if you "own" the trademark, I would say that it's not important to own the .biz and .info . I doubt anyone can profit from owning these versions of your domain name, if it turns out to be a problem you can use your trademark to claim infringement.

But I would keep the .net and .org.

@engine
We use also privacy protection to reduce spam... so:
4 * $25 = $100 per year

It is not a lot generally speaking, but if it is a waste and unnecessary then it would be too much.

As JorgeV says, if you hold the trademark you can protect it, but it won't stop someone taking it and, potentially, abusing it until you can stop them.

biz and info are probably much lower value, so if you're not wanting to waste money, I don't know many legitimate businesses that use those.

What spam are you referring to, email spam?

Indirectly related, once, someone used a domain name, similar to one of my site, with a different extension, the domain name was not "common word", and if you search the internet, I am the only one using this "word" . So , one day, someone registered the same domain name, with the .co extension, I did not try to contact the owner, I just wrote to the registrar, and the domain was null routed. May be the simplest way.. but be sure to bring the right arguments.

By the way, I didn't know registrars were still charging for private whois.

You'd save a lot more potentially by moving to a registrar that doesn't charge for private who is., if cost cutting is on the agenda.

I actually have successful sites running on info and biz, though I probably wouldn't choose a biz these days.

Peraonally I'd keep the info.
