I thought .tel was a good extension - their regulations just made it pretty pointless to actually buy one.

This might encourage some additional registrations

Very doubtful .tel can recover at this point. There are 1,000+ new TLDs now.

Of course the new gTLD is a a disaster. No consumer demand and unregulated pricing.

I did pretty good with .tel domains, about 10 years ago it seems.
