So, .asia is supposedly a gTLD, I have a keyword.asia related directly to my industry.

The com/net/org are not used and also not available to purchase at sensible money however I do have the LLkeyword.com whereby LL = my shortened company name.

All things being equal which would you use?

The company factory is based in Asia and has global sales.

Ostensibly .asia should have the same ranking possibility as .com however I have always considered that Google especially gives preference to .com and more so when hosted in the USA.

Any thoughts?

Purely on a "vote now" basis I'd default to .Com for an entity engaging a global market. .Asia suggests a more local or regional focus. .Com is easily seen as global.

Also, .Com might be a little less "concern evoking". Concern? Does this company play by global business rules? Is this a new company? How serious a company is it if it's trading under a "lesser" gTLD?

Next!

Does this company play by global business rules?

Hahaha:-) I understand your point however it's a well-known industry fact that some 70% of my industry's global trade is produced in Asia, that's absolutely nothing new to volume buyers.

Interestingly on our contact pages we list the various email addresses by region and country in alphabetical order starting with @domain.asia, @domain.cn, at domain.com etc, out of the several email addresses .asia gets by far the most mail and .com the least.

I have no idea what that tells me!

Anyway, we have had a company vote on this giving all the relevant staff the various option from 12 different names and extensions using company name, keyword name, new name, family name etc, the overwhelming winner was our six letter family name.com which we have never used, so that's what we're going with.

Now I have to write a new about us page with almost 200 years of history!

I must admit, the family name and logo looks awesome:-)

To be honest I am still not convinced about using the family name, yes it looks good however the keyword.asia leaves no one in any doubt about the site's products, otherwise the site is ready to go.
