I have a domain which I have set the DNS "A" record to point to my hosting away from the current hosting, but it isn't showing as being changed to the new ip address. It was changed about 3 weeks ago by a third party who manages the domain for them. They sent me a screenshot of the settings which appear to be correct and set to my hostings ip address.

Can anyone tell me why it might not be changing over?

Cheers

hi there

your message isn't clear.
you say you have changed the A record to point to your new host company (presumably you mean that you have entered your new ip address in the A record)
but then you say: "it isn't showing as being changed to the new ip address"
... what and where isn't showing as being changed?

if you do:
tracrt example.com
at the command prompt, what ip address does it show for example.com (where example.com is your domain name)

Welcome to WebmasterWorld a1websites

Yes, I agree with topr8, it's not entirely clear.

It's worth noting that there may be another setting that needs changing. Typically, the A records are usually all you need to change, however, check the fallback is the same IP. Not sure how your control panel looks.
Sometimes it's shown as:-
* (All Others)
or
@ (None)

Those may need changing to the same IP as the www record.
Take a look as they may be pointing to the old IP.

Obviously, you'll leave the MX or mail/mailgate untouched.
