Thoughts on IM domain

I am looking for a domain for a new project and playing around with different options trying to find something good.

The best I could come up with is a two word .me name. Searching for the single word, I see that the .IM extension is available for $500.

The single word option is certainly an interesting option. I have never really seen a .IM site before and now I see it belongs to Isle of Man.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the .IM extension? Is there any risk to it at all? Do you think it is worth the money?

keep in mind that you'll have one hand tied behind your back if you use most region-specific domains.
