couple of questions really, firstly a domain name (.co.uk) i'm interested in has expired (a little while ago) and doing a lookup on nominet.org.uk shows the following:

Renewal required.
*** This registration has been SUSPENDED. ***

does suspended in this case mean that it is just suspended pending the original registrant renewing it? or could there be another reason?

... and then, i suppose i should register with a domain dropping service, any recommendations as to who (and is this question allowed on the forum), it's an interesting name for me and there could be others interested, although it is a small niche so not too much competition i hope.

yes you can still renew the name. Google "can one renew a suspended .co.uk domain" and pick the Nominet link form the result (not sure if I can place link here) , there they explain the who and how of it.

If you still end up losing it, drop me a line regarding drop catching, I may be able to help as well as advise on few of the companies I have used in the past.

in drop catching what you need to know is certain .co.uk large portfolio owners let their name go to "suspend" stage and then renew just before it expires. They never let the name drop so do not waste your time on it, choose an alternative.

Most of these guys have their own registrar TAG so if see a Registrar Tag you do not recognise it is highly likely it is a domain speculator and chances of the name dropping are less.

as for drop catchers, chk your PM

anyone else got a view on which dropcatchers to use? i'm always a bit reticent about new users who recommend companies! (absolutely no offense meant Nik99)

I've never used a dropcatcher for a .co.uk, always waited until it's available just as I am right now for one:-)

Hope it's not the same one!

... oh well, this small niche domain is pre booked at all the drop catchers that were recommend to me by sticky mail and every other one i could find online as well!

i know who owns it, maybe i'll just remind them to renew it - and hope for some benefit from them!
