What should a photographer do?

If a photographer can nail their niche market with a 100% accurate keyworded website name, should the photographer continue with personal name branding or use the niche market keyworded website?

For example:

A photographer captured a very high caliber portfolio of "whatever" images and acquired whateverphotographyDOTcom. He would like to focus on this niche as his primary market.

Should that photographer continue to present his portfolio from MYNAMEPHOTOGRAPHYDOTcom or should he use whateverphotographyDOTcom?

Which is more important for a photographer:

1. Top search engine rankings for your niche market.
or
2. 100% name brand driven.

Who says you need to choose?

I would bank on the niche name for short term, but keep a site up with the photographer's name for long-term... you might end up with even more -- and could use the "photog name" site as a hub with links to the niche site(s).

Chances are you can piggy-back the sites on a single shared hosting account for little or no-cost more than the cost to host one site.
