Is "Free" a Helpful, Worthwhile or Valuable Domain Prefix?
For what industries? Why? How does it work or help?

Got one seller who is willing to sell freeword.com ...this word represents an adult industry. And domain turns out to be a 9 letter word. Is $20,000 worth it for such domain names. Please suggest. how much actually should we pay.
Thanks in advance

20k for a FREE word domain..So I presume this means another tube?
Your going to have to sell a lot of advertising to get that investment back assuming you can get past the main players that now dominate just about every free/streaming/download term
good luck ..your going to need it and not something that I would take on

I'd go against it personally, i got my tube site to about 100,000 hits a month and was still not making a whole lot of money. And i did that with a random domain name.
Thinking about user intent too, when someone searches for "free+keyword" they are not wanting to pay for anything. So any affiliates Ads would do shockingly bad and normal CPM would be difficult to make good money...
[edited by: Webwork at 2:28 pm (utc) on Aug 14, 2012] [edit reason] An almost but not entirely funny "offer" meets the "funny or die" test and perishes. [/edit]

I would just not buy it at all...

I'd go with the advice, above. mcharalambous somewhat nicely sums the issue up by observing that there's not a lot of money in "free".
Welcome to WebmasterWorld mcharalambous. Don't much mind the edit. As a noob or neophyte you're doing a good job. If you haven't done so I suggest you read this forum's "Charter" [webmasterworld.com ] as we're not (at all) like so many other domain forums.
We're so much better . . in so many subtle ways. ;)
