Evaluating a Domain

I have realized I may have to purchase the domian soon and I have been thinking about how to evaluate it.

I immeditatly thought of Estimated Avg. CPC (for 1st position) x number of global monthly searches this seemed like a fair way to me. Obviously you have to factor in the eventual ranking of your site and a few other things but it gave me a reasonable figure.

Forgive me if this is standard procedure or if its way of base. I guess im thinking out loud.

Are there any others ways?

Look in here: [webmasterworld.com...] for a thread ~5 years back that went into some detail about variables to consider when evaluating an aftermarket domain purchase. I'd say most of "the equation" still holds true.

Sorry. I'd post the actual thread but all my bookmarks were nuked by a system redesign. There's not 1000s of threads in the library, so it won't be too hard to find, and the time spent reading headlines should be educational. ;)
