Two urls pointing to one website

Will this affect in any situation with respect to SEs

Our client had a url as site.in. But they felt the need for a better domain name and had booked for sitename.com

Now we have made both the url point to one website. when some one types any of the two url, the website will load from the same server. They are hoping to continue like this.

Will this affect the website or its performance in the Search Engines.

Please suggest me if some thing has to be done.

What shows in the url? Can you see both example.in and example.com?

Quite simply yes, it will lead to a little bit of confusion for a short while but then the search engines will decide which is the more important rather than having a duplicate in the SERPs and it could go either way, they may choose example.in as the older and original!

If you want example.com to be the primary site then either 301 example.in or url forward it from your registrar.

Thanks for your clear solution.

Yes, I see both example.in and example.com, Not the top level domain alone changed but also the domain name too is changed, example.in to Forexample.com. Totally different urls seems no connection.

Also how can I track Google analytics now.. to which domain they came... little confusing for us too.
