Choosing Domain: .in versus .com

which domain to use, .in or .com

I'm planning to launch a new affiliate network and in a bit of a soup in regards to the domain name to use.

My .in domain has the niche keyword that i'm targeting for my affiliate network.

My question is, would it be alright, in terms of promoting/branding this domain with .in or should I seek out a different domain (which i'm sure will not match my .in domain name) with a .com?

Would appreciate your thoughts/opinions on this.

.in if your target market is India.

.com if your target market it global.

Well that's pretty self explanatory.. but my question was.. would it be make sense to use .in to market to a global audience?

Factors such as SEO, and general visitor perception of the .in domain

Well I use several .in sites and .cn and .asia and I could go on, however my products are actually produced and sourced from those countries and in general most of my potential customers/trade buyers know this.

You say "my affiliate network". Are you starting a network or are you going to be part of an existing affiliate network?

Starting a network.

So I wanted to check what the general assumption is here..

One school of thought does indicate that with a .in people would assume this to be an affiliate network for the markets in India.

I'm biased towards the .com but wanted to check if there was another line of thought for this aspect.
