Hello any interest in that domain, I think its not that bad or at least in the category as .eu and .net any thoughts of this

In the domainer world discussion has focused on the volume of dot-com-typo traffic that may spillover from people accidently typing Example.co when they meant to type Example.com.

Not my gig. I see ccTLDs as being of value for what they were intended: to connect a site/topic to a specific nation.

Not for SEO purposes either, though some (many?) swear there are benefits to keyword.ccTLD that help in the SERPs war against established dot com domains.

Anybody having much luck getting the .co domains they pre-registered with GoDaddy? I reg'ed 3 - of the 3, I already received an email saying I missed out on one, but the other two seem to be stuck in limbo. I can see WHOIS records (showing only registrar data but no actual owner info) for them already, but difficult to say if they will end up mine since I haven't received anything yet to indicate I got them.

Pretty vague process so far. Anyone else eagerly waiting?

I tried to register 2 on godaddy to protect the .coms I already have, both were taken. One, I could see as a possible company domain but the other has to be for typo traffic.

I thought I had bought 6 .co domains from one and one yet this morning receive emails for 3 of them so far saying that I now wasn't successful. Those in Uk may also have tried via Fasthosts who seemed to be down from 7.00pm for about an hour but managed to secure a couple I hope! from them. Not heard yet.

UK2 are very slow. I wonder if they forgot to press the button.

GoDaddy are not much better. I went on there last night and did a quick brain storm around my topic area paid for 6 that were supposed to be available 2 came back positive almost immediately the others are still in limbo.

I should have learned I once used a drop catcher months before a domain was going to drop and forgot all about it. One day I woke up and my pea sized brain fell into place. I went onto a registrar site to check the domain which, it turned out had dropped 6 days earlier. I bought it and proceeded to hit the drop catcher with a tirade, got a refund but I could so easily have missed recovering a domain that was important to me.

Interesting turn of events to share with you guys...

Of the 3 .co's I attempted to pre-regsiter with GoDaddy, 1 domain was unsuccessful and received email notifying me of this from GoDaddy. The other 2 have been sitting in limbo, no notification either way, they both already have WHOIS records (both with other registrars and no actual ownership data), but they are no longer showing up in my Domain Manager account.

When I talked with the support rep, she said in fact to ignore the WHOIS data because the registrars are having to RESUBMIT many of the domains as there were some "issues" with the initial attempts (ie, the central .co got slammed due to volume). The resubmission will better take into account timestamps of the pre-registrations, etc.

SO.... if you still haven't heard back from GoDaddy, there is still supposedly a chance you may get your .co domains. You will know within 24 hours or so.

It looks as though the WHOIS is slowly being updated, I'm now getting to see who have bought so many of my trade widget names.

The interesting one is that my company name has been registered by someone from Spain I can only assume as a typo.

If they knew that 90+% of my visitors are new and referred from search engines I doubt they would have wasted their money!

UK2 may have appeared slow on the surface but they really got their act together on this one. Hats off to them I ended up with the vast majority of what I wanted and some of these very valuable in my niche.

I think you might have a hard time getting a CO domain to take off in the mainstream. It is a country code domain that has yet to establish itself. You might have been better off getting some ORG or NET names for les money and put the difference towards those new cars. ;-)

We do our best to keep the dialogue interesting without getting into specifics and our membership has really done an excellent job of upholding the quality of the dialogue . . without opening the forum to domain listing threads.

This post had me go look and see if I got the one I put in for and it shows up in my account but I see pending application as well. So I called and it all comes down to who registered it first.

Man this is a kill for name I sure hope it was me. Will let ya know when it is resolved one way or the other.

monkey face true but to a company and a really good keyword.co in the country tld is very valuable. If I land the above domain I am not real sure what I am going to do keep it and try to get it to ranking for the one word keyword it is or put it up for sale. But all this is mute till I see what happens.

Hmmm...any company that hasn't had the nous before now really shouldn't complain since they're so far behind the curve it's unreal.

A better typo extension would be .cpm, the amount of times I do that is ridiculous:-)

I thought the same until yesterday when a friend of mine had a few good offers through SEDO.

I didnt buy any nor plan to buy anymore cause the names I may have wanted are gone. But I am a bit more optimistic now.

regardless it makes no difference for me anway. but best of luck for the ones who did buy.

Here is some info for those like me that have the co in pending status.
I purchased it through godaddy so the charge my cc for the domain and I see pending status. I get an email from cointernet.co to log into account and bid. I have no idea what this email is for (there is no information in the email how to log in no password reset nothing but a log in) so I call godaddy and was told to ignore the email the first person to register the domain would get it so I delete the email.

I wait for what 10 days still pending application so today I call godaddy again and now I am told I need to log into the email that was sent me and bid on this domain? What not what I was told the first time I say OK how do i get my log in information and was told by the godaddy rep to call cointernet.co and get if from them.

I call cointernet.co and they said they don't give or have that information godaddy is suppose to give it to me. Just plain great.


Edit-Called godaddy again and am now told something else. This is just plain stupid and shows a complete lack of any kind of orgainzation at all. This whole process has been a joke.

Man the co registering is so messed up I don't think anybody has an idea what is going on. I am now told to go to coauctions.co Ok go there try to get password reset and get a reset password link. Go to the reset and enter new password. Now I get an error password won't reset and I have to call customer support. Hmm wonder what they are going to say?

Ok here is what I was told.
I call the contact number because of the error and the rep said that was odd amd he doesn't know whom I need to contact to get this fixed I am put on hold and he will see if he can find out what I need to do. That's odd the web rep doesn't know who controls their site Ok well nothing new. Rep comes back and now I need to send an email to an address at pool.com?
So a register out of Canada controls the website were all the CO domains are being auctioned. Who would have ever figured.

The rep even told me that really nobody knew what was going on and it was a complete mess. I replied you know what for some strage reason I believe your telling me the truth here.

The best names will be worth something, but they are already taken or reserved.

My best bet would be Denver, Vail and other cities .co (co > Colorado)

The .COM was purchased 10 years by a sitter before I started my Company? with the same name, I was not even working in this industry before, so we lodged the Company name here in Australia 10 years later after

these comments by HuskyPup are very short sighted and not realistic in the Global Business world, everyone's situation is different

and the $13,000- USD for the .COM and .NET

is not worth for me, also my .COM.AU is doing very well on its own, far better than I expected
