How Do I Move a Domain to Another Site?

I have a WordPress blog with a domain, let's just call it "Example.com". "Example.com" has 2k links and a PageRank of 3. Now I've created a shopping cart, hosted on a separate server, and want to transfer VanityDomain to the brand new shopping cart, hoping that the links, rankings, and PageRank that I've built to the blog will transfer to the shopping cart site. I will then create a sub-domain called Blog.Example.com and give that to the blog.

If I were getting rid of the blog altogether I would just 301 redirect it. But I would like to use the equity I've built to my domain and put that on my new shopping cart and just have the blog as a sub-domain.

Will this work? In other words, by merely moving the domain from my blog to my shopping cart, will I preserve the link equity and rankings I've built to my blog?

Are you considering blog.example.com or example.com/blog ?

There's a big difference, blog.example.com will be seen as a separate domain whereas example.com/blog will be seen as the same site.

Off the top of my head go with example.com/blog and 301 all the blog stuff to there. I'm sure someone round here did this recently, cant remember who however I'm sure they'll chip in with their experience.

The problem is that my e-commerce solution is a hosted platform. My blog is hosted with another hosting company. Unfortunately my e-commerce host does NOT host blogs.

In an ideal world, I would like to transfer my vanity domain from the blog (which has 2k links and PR of 3) to the shopping cart, which at this point is brand new and has no links. My hope is to transfer the domain from the blog to the shopping cart and receive the rankings, links, and PageRank from the blog to the shopping cart. I will still keep the blog, but I'll put it on a sub-domain (blog.Example.com).

I don't care if my blog ranks highly or not. I just care that the links and ranking that I've earned to the blog can be transferred to my shopping cart by giving the domain to the shopping cart.

Does that make sense?
