Just did a search on my wife's and my home business name to see if it was in Google today (new site, it's in one day and out the next) and lo and behold ... not only is it there, but the directory page at Skaffe.com where the site is listed has also been indexed. First time I've seen a skaffe.com page in Google's SERPs.
Have they been there a while, or is this new?
While I always have profound respect for volunteer efforts, I'm afraid I'd have to admonish anyone connected with any organization to temper perfectly understandable promotional leanings and/or enthusiasm with prudence.
The fact is that what any of us declares as connected does reflect back on the organization itself and we have to be very careful about what kind of claims we make publicly, and give careful thought to how our statements could be interpreted.
>>recently improved PR and SERP's
I'll not start a Google ranking discussion here because it would be off-topic, but just to set the record straight so that no one will be misled into erroneous thinking and be inadvertantly sold a bill of goods they'd be best off not buying, that is hardly an explanation, in any way shape or form, of why any sites are ranking as they do, either before, during or after the current Florida debacle.
I mean no disrespect, but I think you may have misread what I wrote.
I am making no claims that a listing in Skaffe.com (or ODP or Gimpsy or JoeAnt or Yahoo) has any direct influence on Google's SERP's or PR, but I like to think they have some influence, and for me the glass is half full. You can call me an optimist and a dreamer, if you like. I resemble that remark. ;~)
