My Website Is Not Indexing on Bing — Using an Expired Domain

Hello everyone,

I recently launched my website on an expired domain, and it’s been live for a few weeks now. The site is indexed properly in Google, but Bing is not indexing any of my pages.
Here’s what I’ve already tried:

Submitted the sitemap in Bing Webmaster Tools

Requested indexing manually

Checked robots.txt and there are no restrictions

The domain has a clean backlink profile (checked in Ahrefs)

The content is original and in English

Still, Bing shows zero indexed pages.
Could the issue be related to the domain’s expired history?
Or does Bing take longer to crawl expired domains compared to new ones?

Any suggestions or experiences with similar issues would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hello Rayan and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

Bing is a little slower than Google as far as new site indexing and they can be picky about its background.

There was a discussion about that situation a few months ago here that might offer insight: [webmasterworld.com...]

What do the server logs say? Has Bing CRAWLED the site at all?

Go to archive.org, check out what type of site this expired was like, check it and see if it was "spammy" looking etc. Bing operates a little different, they could have banned that domain for something from over a decade ago.

You might have to contact them via Bing webmaster support if no pages are listed by the end of the month, well honestly, id email them now because this isn't really normal.

I have a feeling that domain might have been banned from Bing for something.

Bing often treats expired domains cautiously even when the history is clean. It can take much longer for the crawler to trust that the site’s new purpose is stable. Google adjusts faster, so it is common to see indexing there first.

You can speed things up by adding a few strong internal links, getting a couple of fresh external links from relevant pages, and checking that your sitemap returns a 200 and updates correctly. Bing also reacts well to clear structured data on news or informational sites. If everything is clean, it usually starts indexing slowly over the next few weeks once it sees consistent updates and engagement signals.

Is your website a CSR (Client Side Rendering) or SSR (Server Side Rendering). CSR websites tend to get ignored by major search engines. The best option is to mention a directive in your robots.txt.

This is a well-written and detailed question. You’ve already covered most of the common troubleshooting steps, which makes it easier for others to help. The concern about expired domain history is valid, and many people have faced similar delays with Bing indexing. Overall, it feels genuine and clearly explained, hopefully someone with direct experience can share insights or confirm whether Bing just needs more time in this case. I hope that this will help you.

@Rayan ... it's been a bit over 30 days since your site launch. Have you seen any change in Bing behavior in that period of time?

Inquiring minds, and all that! :)
