How many words can you write daily?

How many words per day?

A company asks 3000 words per day. Is it doable? Research + writing.
waiting to hear from writers.

Hello,

I don't think there can be a precise answer to your question. Some writers are faster than others, some are taking more time to perfect their articles , etc... also , it depends of the the niche, and how the writer is an expert in this domain. If you are a long time expert in a given domain, you can certainly produce a lot more "words" than someone needing to learn and do researches.

3000 words, is roughly 12 pages of text, in a word processing software.

Now, considering you work 8 hours a day, this is writing 6 words per minute, non stop... so,...if you are researching, and re-reading your article, you can see that this number can climb fast.

To me, it sounds difficult to keep this rhythm eveyday and produce a good work.

That being said, a company which primary requirement is the number of words, certainly doesn't expect/mind quality.

Exactly what JorgeV said.

Some are quicker than others, but if it's about speed, there are automated tools to do that. I would wonder what sort of quality is required at that level, which sounds rather high of an individual including research.

Quality should be the uppermost, imho.

For many people typing is the main bottleneck, not creating the sentences. If the text doesn't require much research, use Google Docs and go to Tools->Voice Typing. I think Apple systems have this functionality built-in. You will be amazed how much text you can produce in a day.

Previously people used Dictaphones and secretaries for this.

In the olden days 120WPM was a good average for a typist. That is more than 6000 words per hour (transcribing) so yes, 3000 words per day with 6 hours of research and composing is a piece of cake - or at least, not asking for the moon.

To express it in slightly different terms: 3000 words a day is equivalent to writing a term paper the night before it is due. Most of us have done this--but only a few times a year at most. And we were many decades younger.

I think that is is not so much about writing the words as having the words to write.

My SEO guy had me writing 2 blogs a week which I tackled on the same day. 500 words plus 800 words is half way there and took 2-3 hours. But some days I found it difficult to get motivated without writing about what was published the previous week.

I have taken a five minute pause to let this sentence sink in...

3000 is not a reasonable expectation for quality content.

FWIW Stephen King sets a goal of 2000 words per day.
Earnest Hemingway reportedly averaged 500 per day.

Hello,

For book authors , this is different, because, they might have think of their stories, for days, month, or years, before writing. When you already know what you will write, you can write fast, of-course.

Eight pages a day for fiction set in the time and place where you yourself live? We should all be so lucky.
