Optimum Install Location for WordPress

under root, or if elsewhere, any SEO considerations?

Hi,

I'm an admitted Luddite who codes HTML and js by hand but does not know an Ipod from an Iphone.

I'm a little overwhelmed by WordPress but see it as my best option (long as it may last) for efficient site development.

Do I want my WordPress installs right under example.com/root or is there any advantage (SEO or otherwise) in using a lower folder path like example.com/root/widgettalk ?

I always put it under root.
