Hey Gemini,

Welcome to WebmasterWorld!

The first thing is to install some caching plugin. WP-supercache is one of the standard ones. That is commonly the way to survive a Slashdot/Digg onslaught.

If it's being hit by spambots and other things like that, there might be other things that could help.

Can you give a bit more detail on the problem?
