Hi all,

I have a site to do for a client and was going to use Wordpress, but I have just got info that wordpress is not good for my clients hosting company.

Does anyone know which free cms it would be best for me to use and host with this company.

Cheers
Geoff

Why not switch hosts? It's not difficult and any host that can't accomidate wordpress or other popular content management systems shouldn't even be in business.

Hi,

I wish I could get them to switch, but the client is through another party and they WILL NOT host with anyone else, I have to do the job and load it with [the] host.

As much as I hate them, I gotta find a way, using a free cms platform that will let me build custom site.

The client only has a very small portion they wish to be able to update and change, do I have any other options other than a huge CMS platform.

If the host can't handle WP then there are a lot of other CMS packages it won't be able to handle either. What can the host handle? (MySQL, PHP, etc.)

Hi Bill

From looking at their info they give ASP.NET, ASP, PHP, PERL CGI, SSI, MySQL Databases.

As far as im aware, they give custom error pages with their hosting, and these conflict with the build in custom error 404 pages from Wordpress.

Any recommendations?

Cheers

That sounds capable of handling most CMS packages unless the account has somehow already used up its allotments for databases already. What was their reason for not accepting WP?

As far as I know its to do with the custom error pages or something, I have done alot of research keywording [the] host and wordpress ect and just get an abundant amount of web developers having endless trouble with the two together.

There is even a recorded call conversation of a guy talking to a technical person at the host asking what is going on with wordpress and them and he says they have a problem and dont know if, or when they will bother sorting it...

There are a lot of others to choose from. MovableType, Drupal, Joomla, just to name a few...

Take a look at opensourceCMS and you can try out installed Admin panels of a number of different packages.
