Meta Descriptions - Joomla 1.0.xx

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get Dynamic Meta Descriptions for Joomla 1.0 on pages? I realized this is a very lacking area on my site.

Over 1k pages indexed, with a large disproportionate amount showing the same meta description.

I've spent the last hour or two looking over possible fixes. In my case I'm running SEF software. But would love to hear any progress made.

I'm not sure on Joomla 1 versus Joomla 1.5. As i understand it,though, Joomla adds your global meta description to the page-specific one and leads to apparent stuffing (if you've used the same words on both pages).

There is a "Joomla Search Engine Friendly Patch", often called the "Joomla SEF Patch" or simply "SEF" that comes in versions for 1.0 and 1.5. If you can't find it post back, but I think that should be enough to go on and should sort out any issues you're having with meta descriptions.

[edit: I just tried the second of my two searches and it definitely found the right pages - well, I didn't go to them, just the SERPs, but looks good. So that should get you there]
