Where do wordpress visitors come from?

I have not done any kind of promotion to my blog (on wordpress' domain).Putting a proper title to each post and putting the related tags is all that I do.

The blog stats shows considerable visits.

Where does the traffic comes from?

What is the reason behind the fact that a new website takes longer to get noticed than a wordpress blog takes?

It seems like I've seen this discussed several times, but the only thread I find right off is this one:
[webmasterworld.com...]

In essence, many people believe that Google automatically crawls new blogs on wordpress.com and blogger, even without inbound links. My experience is that eventually Google finds you via your whois info. Now that Google is a registrar, they usually swing by to see if there's something on the domain within a few days in my experience.
