Firstly, CMS is not my field, my expertise lies in CSS and SEO for static html sites - hence why I'm here asking questions.
I'm developing a website for my fathers company (vehicle fleet finance). The website is static HTML, but it needs to have an 'offers' section with a way of uploading and displaying special offers to it on a regular basis.
I have installed Joomla, played around and watched a few youtube tutorial vids. It seems a great tool for building websites from scratch and enabling users to edit the page content, but what I want to know to save me hours of reading before I discover it's not possible, is will it do what I want it to do?
I need a system that lets me upload an offer, the offer will consist of, model of car, picture, price and possible a URL for a button which will link to a form where more information can be requested.
The offers will need to be displayed by type of vehicle and price i.e. show me all 4x4, or all vehicles between £250 - £350 pm.
If it can be done (which I suspect it can) would it work by having one page (offers.php) that is dynamically generated depending what the user has selected from a drop down box. Or, would it create static pages for each category each time it is published (4x4.html, sports.html, 250-349.html etc)?
So can Joomla help me or am I barking up the wrong tree?
As suggested look for a classifieds script or an extension to joomla, drupal etc. User management is better in drupal and so if you want multiple levels of access or selective access to particular sections, drupal or other cms might be a better way to go.
