I work for an insurance company with two ASP.net developers. Our corporate web site is undergoing a face lift and we want to implement a content management system into the new web site (and 15 or so other web sites as they get redesigned). The main reason to implement a CMS is for us to spend more time designing and programming and less time coping and pasting files, and other clerical work.
I looked at Adobe Contribute and it looked great, but from what I gathered from the webinar, it works best with Dreamweaver. Only in Dreamweaver are you able to block out areas that can be edited. We are currently using Microsoft Expression Web. Expression Web would allow the entire page to be updated. Dreamweaver also lacks ASP.net support that is integrated into Expression Web and Visual Studio.
Next, I looked at Microsoft SharePoint. It looks like it would integrate well into our Microsoft Environment, but then there is the security issue with FP Extensions. Also, the interface looked cumbersome and I wonder if I will get more emails and phone calls on how to use this, and if we would be better off simply continuing our clerical work and calling it a day.
Lastly, there is the possibility of using a web based CMS, but this would obviously need major modifications to meet our needs, and would not offer everything Adobe and Microsoft has spent years developing.
Any advice is appreciated.
