Does anyone know about Joomla? Any opinions on using it? Pros, cons, I was thinking about using it for my next project.

Hi warzonesports.. Welcome to WebmasterWorld

I was using Joomla on a site, and recently switched the site to Xoops. In the end it comes down to two things..

  • will the package deliver for you?
  • your personal preference.

Why did I switch? I wanted to minimize, and tinker with the code more. For what I was doing, Joomla was overkill. And, I think I'll eventually have an easier time incorporating those back burner projects when the time comes.

Thanks for the Welcome. A colleague told me Joomla is would be better to create pages. I usually work on pages with data and image uploads. I am just starting to look at using it. I haven't made a decision yet but I know I am sick of FrontPage.

Do you want to create only one website with the CMS or manage several websites/domains in one CMS? Will it be a multilanguage site or only one language? Will it have 40 pages or 400 or 4000 or even 40000? Do you need features like guestbooks, surveys, forum already included? What web server platform your project run on? Windows with ASP, LAMP? Doe you need interfaces/bridges to other applications? Do you want/need it to be barrier free? Will you be working alone with the CMS or do you have to be able to administer several editors? Will all have the same priviliges? Do you even yet know the answers to all this questions?

Oh my god! My visionary power is failing me. I can't read the answers from your mind. I cannot help you!
