Over the past year or so Ive had a few of my articles ripped off and stuck on other sites (just sent an email to a newly discovered offender, hence this topic).

Mostly they have removed the article with little effort (some do take a fair bit of effort!) or credited me as I require (name, site name, link).

Just one thing I noticed - none of the articles taken had internal links in the text.

It makes sense that if someone is too lazy to write their own content that they will be too lazy to remove links, etc.

Of course links have to be in context of your site in order to provide full protection.

EG:

"And of course the widget industry has experience and fantastic growth over the past few months, resulting in new and exciting widgets being produced.

As can be seen from the "fantastic growth" article (above), this change was due to a new government initiative launched earlier this year."

Here your linked (italics) articles put the rest of your article into context (ie it doesnt make sense without them).

This is also good for creating a naturally related theme to pages in your site, as well as a naturally developed linking structure.

Just thought i'd share.

Off to pub now. :)

Have a good weekend folks! ;)
