Sorry mate .. Indian business law is a whole new mine field .. many of their laws are based on the British experience .. but I think regardless of where you are the same advice would be given i'm sure , and that is to get professional advice, from someone in the field and in your area..

I suspect there will also be initiatives that assist in business start ups in India so go for them...

If you are starting a design company believe me design is the last thing you will be thinking about for at least the next 3 years it's all planning, hard hard thankless work, planning for the next thing, and cash flow...

Good Luck

"proprietorship firm "

You donot need to register any company if you are going to be sole proprietor. You may operate in your own a/c and name and do biz. from your personal bank a/c also. If you so desire, you may create a name for your company and open a 'current' bank a/c for seperate fund management. But this is not essential.

You do need to complete registration formalities, if you are planning to create a PRIVATE LIMITED company. Check with your CA, the documentation required.

Of course you do need to register your name or proprietory company with Service Tax authorities if you have a Sales turnover over Rs 4,00,000.

Hope this bit helps.

Or do that ... ;-)

Another reason I'm suggesting you need to talk to people is that the question you are asking is really really basic in business terms.. and if you are not even sure of that aspect then you need to be doing a lot more personal research before going in to business and all that involves..

Not saying don't do it... just you have a learning curve that will not be covered on this forum.. get out there and find out what you need to know, then make a decision.
