When the referer string no longer contains the keywords...

How can you determine how you were found?

Hi everyone,

I have recently seen in my logs something that worries me a little.

Indeed I have been hit a couple of times by sessions coming from free.fr search results. As I understand free.fr uses Google to fuel its results pages.

The problem is that free.fr shows results in a page similar to "http://search1-2.free.fr/google.pl" without mentionning the keywords, which is annoying for collecting data for my site statistics.

Has anybody found similar behaviors in other search engines? Is this a result of the Google api implementation?
How to guess the keywords that were used for the search in such a case?

Any thoughts welcomed

I am sorry to say that if the information is not in your log files, then there is no way to reproduce it.

There are other SERP's that will not show the keywords in the referrer. It's a byproduct of how the search form is submitted, and the resulting URL of the referring page.
