Anyone ever seen this puppy before?
The only thing I have is the string:
ip1b0393.stm.mesh.ad.jp - - [23/Jan/2003:02:47:24 -0800] "GET /robots.txt HTTP/1.0" 200 143 "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; PerMan Surfer 3.0; )"
I ran ip1b0393.stm.mesh.ad.jp thru SamSpade and the only thing it gave me was -
01/23/03 16:19:01 whois ip1b0393.stm.mesh.ad.jp

So, I went to: http*//www.nic.ad.jp/cgi-bin/whois_gate and pasted ip1b0393.stm.mesh.ad.jp into the tool and got nothing at all.
This is my first time using this tool and I may not have done it properly.
I also did Start > Run > CMD and it keeps timing out.
My concern is that it'll come back later and scarf up all my files. Japan is one to be wary of, right?
Whatever anyone can contribute.... :)

Enter mesh.ad.jp only. Whois tools usually only have info on registered domains, not subs below them.
I did, and ended up with:

Which is almost a twin of my original post, but with clickable links this time.
If I click thru: [Name Server] ns02.mesh.ad.jp it does give me a single IP Number. Click thru that IP Number and it gives me their IP Block 210.147.0.0-210.147.255.0 .
(Had radio buttons set to default.)
Have I successfully used JPNIC Whois Gateway?
If so, from what I've listed above, how can I be sure this isn't an ISP or that later on this evening they come back and rip through my domain?
In other words, just because it's NEC doesn't mean "all is well" and not to dispair, does it?
Uh, oh. :o CMD successful now:
Pinging ip1b0393.stm.mesh.ad.jp [61.203.63.77] with 32 bytes of data:
Looks like I may not have done something correctly afterall.
Do you see anything I don't?
Normally, I get a case of the 'noids when I only see a single request for robots.txt. Especially when it's from an unknown entity.
