Image tag call et al.

Hi there, I hope someone can answer these distinct questions:
first off, given my url, elovefinder.com are these the correct
lines to edit in the counter script:

$traxis_dir ="/www/elovefinder.com/cgi-bin/traxis/"; #where is traxis located (the current directory is default)

$data_path= "/www/elovefinder.com/cgi-bin/traxis/";#path to config file. Normally you don't need to edit this.

OK, It says I don't need to edit, but...

Second, the url of the image tag call is supposed to be

<img src="http://www.elovefinder.com/cgi-bin/traxis/traxis-counter.cgi?site=elovef"
border="0" height="1" width="1">

Right?

Won't that create broken image icons on some browsers?

I'm asking really goofy questions, I can tell. :)

Third,
If I chose to use SSI instead of image calls, would I have to rename all my pages .shtml ? I run the searchenginebase portal script on one of my pages, which uses includes, and I had to rename the page .shtml .
