What appears in my 'heads up' email when a bad call takes place is as follows;
URI : service.bfast.com/bfast/serve?bfmid=19187551&siteid=39901866&bfpage=newhome1
Refer : www.newscore.net/support
User : 24.202.240.29
Error : 404
If I visit newscore.net I can find no mention of my site in any of their pages or any mention in the service.bfast.com page which it calls.
Irritatingly, the addition of
RedirectMatch (.*)\service.bfast$ [stoptheviruscold.invalid$1...]
RedirectMatch (.*)\focusin.ads$ [stoptheviruscold.invalid$1...]
and
SetEnvIfNoCase Referer "^http://www.newscore.net" BadReferrer
and even
Deny from 24.202.240.29
in my htaccess file is preventing these errors.
There seems to be a wealth of experience 'out there' and I would be grateful if anybody could identify the reasons for these calls and why the htaccess checks are being ignored.
Thanks in advance.

I must say I don't have your answer but let's see if a little bump won't attract some attention.
The site owner has a DMOZ clone direcotry attached, which you have two listings indicated (as per DMOZ).
In addition, the site owner has a Javascript error prevailent thoughtout the site (including the pages you are on).
I personally can't see how this could affect you but I can't (as you) figure out what else is causes the 404 errors at your end (the links) themselves doesn't seem to have a problem.
...I am no expert in this area, but maybe my initial findings, will help someone else with more experience here find the route problem.
