I found this rather odd entry in my logs:

host.cht.nn - - [11/Jul/2002:17:46:58 -0400] "GET /diocese/dwafu.html HTTP/1.0" 200 8568 "http://www.google.com/search?hl=fr&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=dioc%E8se+de+wallis&lr=" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows 98; DigExt)"

Now what's confusing is the ".nn" extension on the host. Apparently the server resolved it at the time - but I can't get an IP for it now. Its not a valid extension as far as I can tell.

FYI, the entry otherwise is quite normal for a regular user - including several additional gets for the images on that page.

Any ideas?

Maybe a "private network" address (in the RFC 1918 sense) that leaked out of its private network? Sometimes people running private networks misconfigure their gateways to report local (private) hostnames to webservers.
