GA4 for AMP

Need to add an op-out feature on the website?

Fairly large ecommerce site here running AMP (only AMP pages). We're in the process of migrating from GA360 to GA4, and what I'm not 100% clear on right now is whether GA4 for AMP will force us to add an analytics op-out feature and then present that to all our users when they first land.

The basic documentation states that
"To use Analytics on AMP pages, you must: Disclose how Analytics collects and uses data, and offer users the opportunity to opt-out of Analytics. You can do this by linking to the Google privacy and terms, which includes a link to the Analytics opt-out page."

Does this mean that because we are an AMP site we *must* show some kind of opt-out feature and link to Google privacy documentation?

Seems a bit extreme, and not sure I can find any other sites doing this. Would it be related to GA4 for AMP's lack of support for managing consent mode settings?

It's related to, for example GDPR, which requires consent or confirmation about user data options.

Though the bit I'm stuck on is whether this requirement applies to any and all use of GA4, or is it a requirement that applies specifically when implementing GA4 for AMP pages?

In the documentation for GA4 Analytics for AMP pages, this seems to be called out specifically for the GA4 for AMP solution; [support.google.com...]
