I was poking around Google Analytics (GA) today and noticed, in Reports => Behavior => Site Content => Content Drilldown, that some URLs have query strings attached to them, strings whose origin I don't know.

fbclid: Is this something to do with Facebook?

bcsi-ac: Does this have to do with authentication in some manner? (There is no login involved with using my website.)([knowledge.broadcom.com ])

scrlybrkr: I have no idea what this is.

I'm curious as to what these are, or how they came to be appended to my website's page URLs. Thank you!

Eliz.

If possible, coordinate those queries in your access logs and you may find they are poking around for weaknesses or vulnerabilities in your setup. Bots and (rarely) humans look for ways to cause mischief attacking known weaknesses and they come in with a list of things to try. Hopefully they received only 404 responses and moved on. It is good to keep up with requests though, both for this reason and to see what people are looking for on your site. The access logs are a good place to check when you see peculiarities.

Don't worry about parameters, anything after the ? is ignored if your page has a proper canonical.

Link value flows to the canonical.
