I traditionally export data from Search Console to store offline, but that's because I normally only track very few data points.
Might be embarking on a project where I need to track a LOT of pages over time and (a) spreadsheets aren't going to cut it; and (b) I want to be able to go back and research the history of trends spotted within data, as well as perhaps (c) look at data I didn't think to look at before. I believe that GSC has a history of 16 months. We're gonna need more than that over time.
Questions for those already using Data Studio - or for those who use another tool (free or paid) they consider superior:
1) Does connecting GSC with Data Studio allow me to archive data beyond 16 months? And is it ALL kept? If not, are there things that are lost that you consider to be 'deal breakers'?
2) We'll be using Analytics landing page reports to track progress proper and have a bunch of on-site KPIs, but I do also want to be able to gather data on when and where we were in the race (i.e. ranking) as well as on the podium (i.e. traffic). Any other advice on using Data Studio to track rankings and terms on a per page basis over time as a KPI?
3) Is there anything else I should be aware of in Data Studio i.e. what you wish you knew when you started using it?
Many thanks. If anyone wants to recommend alternatives please PM me unless mods allow an exception for this thread.
