What's wrong with it?

Hi trackers and loggers!!
a question :
I'm using Web Trends Analysis Series 7.0 to analyze my log files and I encountered lots of problems, in fact it easily crash the system, it can't analyze one month logs ( 50-60 MB ) and it's really really slow.
Did any of you encountered the same problems?
Should it be a configuration problem?
Any suggestion will be appreciate.

I'm also using Web Trends Analysis Series 7.0 but it's running fine. However ver. 7 is taking up a lot more resources than ver. 5.5. Could that be your problem?

May be that's the problem but I'm not so sure.
I'll try to uninstall and install once more.

No idea what could be causing the problem really but I have version 7 and it seems to be working fine for me. It is running on a fairly empty server though and seems to use a lot more resources than previous versions (as Torben_Lundsgaard) says..

Can you configure the list of the top search engines? (In web trend there is an .ini file)
how do you upgrade that list?

That is something I'm working on for the next release. Currently it's built into the program.

Webtrends is definitely resource hungry, especially when residing on the same box as your web server (a practice that NetIQ doesn't recommend actually). I would run the task manager, maybe even the perfmon and see how Webtrends affects your system resources. You may also want to take advantage of things like FastTrends which stores all the data it gathers and figures out each time and makes it easier for it to compile reports on subsequent events. Another issue may be that IP resolution may be slowing things down considerably depending on your server, hosting, etc. Finally, make sure you have ALL patches installed - I believe they are currently on revision C. It can be a touchy program to work with, but rewarding once fully operational and it barfs out a great report right on schedule each day or whenever you have it it set for.

So, compare your server specs to the recommended ones, check resource utilization, check application settings and upgrade to latest revision.
