In Google Analytics, we all see the big push to try and get us all to use the new version of Analytics, called GA4...

Little nudge here...

This advanced article about Google Analytics is worth reading, especially the section called "The Event-Driven Data Model".
Most Analytics platforms are shifting towards the Event-Driven Data Model, it makes more sense than the old ways Analytics was used.
Please read the section labelled "The Event-Driven Data Model", their examples explain it fairly well.

I've been avoiding GA4, but today I was forced into it after creating a new property. I feel lost, some of the basic metrics I use to track performance such "audience overview" are completely gone. But on the other hand this new version appears to provide some detailed insights that could prove beneficial for my current project. The article above proved very informative, but I think there will be learning curve.

It is frustrating, I expected that adding the analytics code would take a few minutes, I have now spent a few hours trying to figure everything out.

So -- hummm -- just spent a couple of hours digging into GA4.

Not quite sure what I think. Clearly this is much more sophisticated.

But so what?

Anyone know what did they do with things like "search terms" ?

And is there some sort of work around to get them (even a small sample) back?

Sort of interesting that no one has called attention to this.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks!
