I'm having a huge number of direct traffic on my website. But, I'm not able to know that from where traffic is approaching, like which source or website.
I want to know the source of traffic generating on my website?
Can anyone help on how to track this traffic?
Can you recommend any Tool or some other way to know the source of traffic?
Due to direct traffic, the stats of my website are here: [screencast.com...]

Hi therosealvina and Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

Direct traffic is traffic that does not send a referral header and that can happen for several reasons. The privacy settings of your visitors can prevent it. Sometimes visitors come from a shared link in an email or chat which doesn't usually provide that information. Visits where people use their own browser's bookmarks or history do not have a referring site.

The best way to understand your traffic is to examine your site's raw access logs which can really help you understand what and who is visiting and from where your traffic is originating. You are likely to find that half (or more) of your 'direct' traffic is not human at all. Bots can (and do) hit your analytics script without even visiting (opening a page on) your site. When you view your logs you may find a different issue of referer spam - scripted bots that leave referrer information that does not exist in hopes of generating traffic for themselves.

In general, direct traffic is not something to worry over. It is common enough that we have had many previous discussions about it, see: [webmasterworld.com...]

An older thread goes into some very helpful information about direct traffic: [webmasterworld.com...]

Sometimes using our search can answer a question faster than a new post ;)

As noted above, your logs will provide the best insights on traffic.

Also helpful in managing that information is denying undesired bots when identified.
