The intermediate link to this should not delete or keep it? if holding it back, based on what criteria? If erased, it is based on what criteria?

In short: A links to B which redirects to C.

If B is one of your own pages, you should fix A so it links directly to C. If B belongs to someone else-- or if it is purely a figment of google's imagination-- you don't need to do anything.
