Big difference between Google Analytics and AwStats

I activated Google analytics in a couple of wordpress blogs because because I want to check the stats without the pages use to post new article and all the admin operations.

I realized that the difference between AwStats and Google Analytics are huge. Some traficc that I have in AwStats coming from Brazil and Canada (real traffic) is not reported in Google Analytics.

Does Google Analytics need time to collect the data?

Is there any specific reason?

GA needs to download and execute some javascript before the visit is recognized.

or are you asking about how long before specific visits show up in reports?
