Google traffic down, direct traffic up, How to rule out analytics bug?

When I look at my overall site activity in Google Analytics, everything looks good and has increased YOY so you would think I am happy person. The troubling thing is that my Google search referrals are dropping while my direct traffic has suddenly started to increase. It doesn't match up to a one to one ratio but the numbers are very close.

How do I figure out if my Google traffic is really down or if this is some weird analytics bug?

I had that happen when I added a frame breaker. It broke the frame before analytics could get the referral information but of course if counted when they were refreshed to the unframed page so it looked direct to it. Could it be something like that?

Do you have access to the server logs? That might give a clue as well.
