Nd Analytics program for Upstream Traffic

What is a good Analytics program to log and report upstream traffic ?

My current analytics program is good at reporting referring search engine traffic but half my site is direct traffic. I want to know where my visitors are coming from. What websites were they on before coming to mines?

Have you tried Hitwise? It is expensive but it will give you the answers that you are looking for.
