Rats, I cant correct typo in the title, how embarassing :)...oh well...

Ever get cookies from non visited websites?
Of course I'm not talking third party, this is from visiting nothing but FF search page,so how did it get set?
It will not happen every time but...
If you have a firewall displaying real time traffic stats, try a search for whatever you want, then click to the second page of results and check your computers traffic.
The number one spot from the 1st page has set a cookie yet you never visited.
Anyone ever seen this?
How does that happen?
Very odd!

Do you have any sort of "accelerator" installed on your browser?

If I recall correctly, the Google Firefox plug-in is really bad for prefetching pages in the links of the page you're viewing.

This could lead to a cookie being set by a page you've never visited, as well as other weird behavior.

I could be wrong, of course....

You are probably seeing prefetching, as stapel mentions.

Here's a substantial earlier thread on the topic:

    Thanks Stapel and Encyclo!

I knew someone here could make sense of it, and thanks for the link to the article on prefetching,
I did'nt have a clue what to make of it.
This is absolutely the best webmaster forum on the net.
    Cheers!
