Best way to track results

We would like to track our rankings for a set of keywords over periods of time. The idea would be to monitor the progress of our SEO efforts over time. I suppose daily sampling of keywords in a few regions would be ideal. I would presume there are many other metrics one would want to track as well..

Has anybody got any platforms that they would recommend in this regard. The ideal solution would probably be a hosted one..

Olly, I would recommend you make a Custom Advanced Segment in Google Analytics. This way you can filter the entire analytics profile based on the keywords of choice. I commonly do this where I segment by Organic Search traffic, which is a default segment, and then filter out brand keywords to give clients an idea of how traffic is trending for Non Brand Organic Keywords. To me this is one of the main take aways a good SEO should provide.
