So I've installed Google Anaytics and starting to have a bit of fun with that but:

1. Is installing it in ANY way harmfull to your website?

2. Is the information you get backdated? ie do you only get information from the date when GA is installed onwards?

Thanks.

Hi James,

Google Analytics can sometimes be harmful to your site if you put the code in the wrong section of the HTML. Sometimes the external JavaScript call takes time which may delay rendering of your site if the GA code is not at the very end of your HTML as Google recommends. That is the only situation I know of where the usage of GA may affect the usability of your site.

You won't get any information from before you added the JavaScript call to your pages.
