Cart abandonment pop up recommendations?

Hey all,

I'm looking to reduce our cart abandonment with a "navigate away pop up".

Debating between a java alert box or a standard mini browser pop up. Both have their pros & cons.

Before we throw it into A/B testing, anyone care to share experience with past results?

I met someone who added a standard exit pop up and didn't go for JavaScript. I don't remember anything special about his reasons so it must have been the usual "some people have JS turned off".
