Webtrends Log Analyzer 8 Report problems

Hello,

I want to start with a disclaimer... I am not a very technical person. I know enough just to make me dangerous. :) So, please be gentle if what follows is really a beginner question.

I have been running Webtrends Log Analyzer 8.1c. All was fine until this month. I am trying to view a report for the month of March and days are missing from it. Yet, if I run a report for specific days in March the data is there, but when I do the report for the full month the info is not there for all the days. Any ideas?

We do not have a support contract with Webtrends - it expired. The only person in my department with Webtrends knowledge is on paternity leave. We are upgrading Webtrends May 1st and will have a new server and a support contract, but in the mean time I *need* this March report asap.

Many thanks,
Simonsb

This isn't a stupid question, Simon. It requires a close understanding of how WT works.

Basically, if you are expecting WT to go back and fill in the missing data just by telling WT to re-analyze, it won't.

What probably happened is that some of your logs came in later than other (more recent) logs. WebTrends was able to analyze the recent stuff then later saw, and ignored, the earlier stuff. It will only analyze data oing forward from the last log file date/time that it processed.

In other words, WebTrends isn't a database program. That's one of the reasons why Log Analyzer is/was so cheap. Low overhead.

You will have to re-analyze all of March. Create a new profile or report to do that and point it at the March data and set it going.

If you have WebTrends' FastTrends feature enabled, there is a chance that you can roll back your current profile/report to the end of February, erasing all March data (and ONLY March data) then re-analyze.

If all thise loses you, and if you can bring your paternity-leave guy in for a couple hours, you might have your report on time.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Unfortunately, I did try creating a new profile and running the log files again.

I asked for a report of March 1-8 and the data was there. Then when I go back and enter a different custom date range - say March 1-13 there are gaps in the data - only March 1-4 and 8-13 appears in the report.

I'm confused.

Other than the custom date range option is there a way to pull back a report for the whole month once the month has ended?
