Hi all,

I'm currently running a website that is using atlas to track PPC campaigns. As part of this tracking on the landing page we need to track links that are used to download PDFs for example with no other webpage inbetween so we have to use "click tags" the tracking is put on the link rather than javascript on the bottom of the page page.

The link used for the click tag is a 302 redirect. Google use the same technology with double click, but has anyone got experience with these types of tracking tags, will having a 302 redirect have a negative effect on SEO. no problems in terms of ranking have been suffered but are we missing out on internal linking juice and anchortext benefit?

Thanks

Do neither of these analytics systems support an "on-click" function for tracking downloads? That would be the way I would do it - but having said that I would not worry too much about the minimal effects that the 302 redirect will have on the page where the tracking call takes place. Yes, you are losing a couple of areas where you could possibly get a few extra SEO score "points" - but nothing so significant to drastically change your rankings upwards and there is nothing detrimental either, I wouldn't have thought.
